Microsoft will make 6 Windows 7 editions available.
- For upcoming markets there will be a Home Basic. This edition will not have the aero glass effects nor the Media Center and will be suitable for less powerfull pc’s
- The Home Premium edition will have Aero and Media Center and will support multitouch and will recognize handwriting
- For the business market there will be a Professional edition. In this edition there will the “domain join” option, but it will also have Media Center
- The Enterprise edition will have all the features of the Professional edition and more like: bitlocker-encryption, applocker (to block software access) and also BranchCache to speed up network access
- The Ultimate edition will have all the stuff of the Home Premium and Enterprise editions
- The last edition will be the Starter edition. This edition will be suitable, just like the Home Basic, for less powerfull pc’s like netbooks.
Not must different like Vista then but I expect a lot of it. I installed Windows 7 Beta myself on my Acer Aspire One Ab150 netbook a few weeks ago and have to say that it runs very smooth. It recognizes almost all hardware immediately, I was up and running in maybe one hour.
